CADIA's DEI Industry Study in Full Swing

The CADIA DEI Industry Study is now open, and we invite companies to participate and help advance understanding of DEI data and initiatives. Companies can open the study link to preview the DEI survey tool and participate directly by sharing their DEI data. For additional functionality in the survey itself, participants may request a custom survey link.

With support from the State of Michigan and MICHauto, and in partnership with KPMG, the study will establish key baseline data and provide benchmarks for diversity, equity and inclusion in the transportation industry (including vehicle manufacturing, aftermarket and parts manufacturing and related high-tech companies, retail and defense).

CADIA Connects addresses Early Talent Pipeline Development in October

On Oct. 10 CADIA will host a conversation about early talent pipeline development. Now more than ever, companies are connecting with students in their early career planning. Internships are now being offered to first and second year engineering students, and would-be technicians are being introduced to transportation careers before high school. Companies around the globe are asking themselves how to make more young people aware of all that the transportation industry has to offer.

CADIA is pleased to host Bryan Bosch – Manager; Student Experience and Pre-Engineering Programming, and Morgan Schuld – DEI Liaison for University of Toledo Engineering Council, Chemical Engineering Senior, University of Toledo and Fred Lumpkin – Founder; Work for Tomorrow in a robust conversation on this topic. Facilitated by CADIA's Lisa D'Amore, this is a not-to-miss session.

As always, CADIA Connects is free but you must register in advance.

Member Spotlight:  AAM's Global DEI 2 + 1

AAM associates around the world have unique challenges, perspectives and needs regarding diversity, equity and inclusion. AAM's global DEI programming is flexible and adapts to the needs of local teams. The Global DEI 2+1 Program is designed to enable global participation in the company's DEI journey. It sets measurable and attainable goals at the corporate level while providing flexibility at the country level. The program has three goals (2+1): two goals based on global topics and one additional goal based on a country topic.

The two global DEI topics are Valuing Differences and Gender. Leadership in each country has selected one additional goal relevant to their culture. They’ve also developed action plans to reach their 2030 goals. Other +1 areas include: Age/Generation, Physical/Mental Ability, Race and Ethnicity, Religion and Spirituality and Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity.

CADIA highlighted this program at a recent CEO Coalition for Change meeting where Terri Kemp, VP, HR, AAM shared program highlights and outcomes.

Additional information on this and other AAM DEI initiatives can be found in the company sustainability report.  CADIA salutes AAM!!

DEI Roundtable Adds Members; Tackles Important Topics

Calling all DEI practioners! Join us for a virtual monthly roundtable meeting to discuss industry best practices; what's working and what is moving the needle on company culture, inclusion and belonging.

Inclusive Leadership:  CADIA's top requested workshop in 2023

four individuals with tshirts that spell out TEAM

"Some inclusive leaders just come that way...others need to be guided along the way. In the end, what we want are leaders that others will want to follow. There are many ways individuals can be "inclusive"  - and we always find a way that feels natural to the individual." -- Lisa D'Amore, workshop facilitator

Shifting workplace demographics will challenge all of us to reconsider how we show up as leaders. To remain relevant, leaders must develop the essential skills of inclusive leadership to effectively leverage the diversity of people, perspectives and experiences.

Who it is for:
Individuals and groups interested in improving their inclusive leadership behaviors

Length:  90 minutes

Inclusive leaders can show all stakeholders what it is like to belong at work and inspire others to embrace the necessary culture changes required to cultivate it.
