With support from the State of Michigan and MICHauto, and in partnership with KPMG, CADIA undertook a DEI Industry Study in 2023, and the final study is now complete. The study findings establish key baseline data and provide benchmarks for diversity, equity and inclusion across the auto-mobility industry.

This final report reflects survey data and secondary research on the state of DEI in the automotive/transportation/high-tech sector in the US. Findings will help identify critical key areas of focus to achieve inclusive talent and leadership development, provide metrics to measure against other sectors and will serve to allow for progress to be measured over time.

Some study highlights include:

• Gender distribution: Study suggests the transportation industry is male-dominated, with ~18% fewer women than the US workforce. 
• Data capture:  Study indicates that companies are not widely capturing demographic data for the workforce (race and ethnicity).
• Pipeline development:  Findings show that even fewer companies are tracking demographic data for the applicant pool generally.
